. (via scription) - Am I the only one who pretty much disconnect from the black hole of cyberspace over the weekend? I don’t watch much TV. I don’t play video games. But I fritter away endless hours in front of the computer. I tried a bunch of restrictions on home computer use. It was much harder to stick with them than I’d thought. Here’s what did stick: thou shalt not touch the computer on weekends between breakfast and dinner. (via lifehacker)
- Super cool gifts for folks you don’t really care that much about…This installment of the 2008 Unclutterer Gift Giving Guide focuses on gifts under $35 that can help others organize the home or office. If you’re going to buy something tangible, we suggest getting gifts that work with our motto: A place for everything, and everything in its place. (via unclutterer)
- How to tell people to talk to the hand in a nice way…AwayFind is a new web based service that allows one to set up professional email auto responses and signatures. On the surface, the purpose is to allow you to set appropriate expectations for those that send you email and allow those with an urgent need to get in touch with you right away. It is a very elegantly executed service that provides just the right balance between method and message. I can’t say enough good things about the web site itself. It is elegantly designed and a joy to use. (via patrick rhone)
- This notion that the interweb is becoming a big fat time suck is quickly becoming popular…Coming back from a (mostly) online-free 4 days made me realize how much time is wasted every day checking and rechecking stuff for no good reason. It made me wonder if it was possible, or productive, to have more days where I greatly reduce my usage of the Internet… Or maybe even cut it out entirely! (via cranking widgets)
- With a name like freckle this web based time management service has to be good right? Get ready for the lowest-friction time tracking system ever. freckle’s made fast so you can get in, get done, & get out: everything from long-lasting login sessions to tuned-up page performance. Log time with as few as 7 key presses—including tab, no mousing required. Even for a brand new client. Seriously. (via letsfreckle.com)
- What many women have long suspected has been proven by science…The male gender is in danger, with incalculable consequences for both humans and wildlife, startling scientific research from around the world reveals. The research – to be detailed tomorrow in the most comprehensive report yet published – shows that a host of common chemicals is feminising males of every class of vertebrate animals, from fish to mammals, including people. (via the independent)
- Taco Bell and GTD? …the most significant solution is what I took away from the cooks at Taco Bell: I started defining my next actions not according to real specific steps (highly literal “next actions”), but according to what I can accomplish in one sitting. (via whats best next)
